What heavy-duty foil and cutter-box film actually change in a kitchen
Two SKUs at the same case price, and both are the kind of item where the cheap version costs more. Heavy-duty 18" x 100m foil is thick enough to wrap hot food, line a pan and cover a hotel tray without tearing. Standard-gauge foil tears on the sharp corner of a steam-table pan, and a torn wrap on a delivery order is a call-back.
12" x 2000ft cling film in a cutter box is the format that matters. A cutter box gives a clean cut with one hand — the film does not curl back on itself, and the roll does not walk off the shelf. Any kitchen that has fought a bare roll of film during service understands why the box is worth paying for.
At 2,000 feet, one film box lasts most single-location kitchens two to three months. Foil turns over faster if you are wrapping shawarma, naan or anything hot.

Foil or film — which for which job
Foil for anything hot, anything going into an oven or holding cabinet, and anything that needs to hold a shape — wrapped sandwiches, shawarma, naan, covered trays.
Cling film for cold storage, prep containers, portioned mise en place and anything you need to see through. Film is not oven-safe and should not go near open flame.
Most kitchens carry both permanently. If you have to pick one to start, foil is the more versatile of the two in a takeout operation.

Is the aluminum foil oven safe?
Yes. Heavy-duty aluminum foil is oven-safe and suitable for covering trays and lining pans. It should not be used in a microwave.
What size is the foil roll?
